Technology Behind Voice in Healthcare
Unlike any other technology, clients using voice-assisted care increase direct resident care by an average of 2 hours per caregiver per shift. How? Voice puts information they need and instant access to other team members on demand—anytime, anywhere in your community. Care staff will:
- Maximize efficiency by saying 'review care' to hear personalized resident needs
- Boost accuracy and maximize reimbursements by charting care simply by talking, anytime, anywhere
- Avoid costly sentinel events by hearing reminders for turning/positioning, appointments, and more
- See teamwork taken to new heights
Essential Components of the System
Web Client and Nurse Station
The web client allows physicians and nurses to conveniently and efficiently enter and monitor care plans. The use and presentation is highly organized and intuitive. This allows for thoroughness, completeness and reduction of errors.
Voice Assistant and Headset
The Voice Assistant is a wearable computer, not much larger than a deck of cards. It collects and transmits documentation, care plans, special instructions, and team communication. The headset is a lightweight, yet strong headset, equipped with a highly efficient microphone. It can be worn like a stethoscope in between documentations, still able to catch notifications and pages.
Site Manager and Wireless Network
The Site Manager is a server running Solaris 10 operating system. It can be either rack mount or tower and requires two network connections. Each of these requires a static IP (one for the server itself and the other for remote access). Care plans are stored on the server and distributed according to the designed workflow.
Mountain Leverage voice uses a standards-based 802.11 B/G wireless, Ethernet network. The network will be secured using WPA or WPA2. SSID and encryption key are the same for all access points (gateways) to permit roaming. The local firewall will need to provide port-forwarding to allow SSH secure access for remote maintenance and administration.
